A connectivity conundrum - ADSL or fibre broadband?
ADSL is cheaper, but not quite so speedy. It’s a cost-effective option if you’re not a heavy data user, perhaps mainly using the internet for emails and internet browsing.
Although fibre broadband is now available in the majority of UK postcodes, there are still some areas that aren’t covered. For businesses operating in those areas, ADSL may be the only option.
The ADSL network runs on traditional copper phone lines and will be switched off later this decade. So, if you want a future-proof solution that’ll serve you in the years to come, fibre broadband makes more business sense.
ADSL may not serve you effectively if you’re relying a lot on cloud-based apps, remote working or video conferencing – especially if you do these things all at the same time! Fibre broadband, with speeds of up to 80 Mbps, is likely to be a better option.
